Tonight I went to Kino Shorts to watch my friend's film, A Load Of Rubbish. It was hilarious and went down really well! I'll post a link to it asap!

Photo Every Day #116

Today we gave the aquatic area in work an extra special clean. Even though I sound biased because I work there, it really is one of the nicest aquatic sections I've seen in a pet shop; good sized tanks, healthy fish, no overcrowding and nice and clean!

Fish Tanks:

Song Of The Day: Coldplay - Trouble
Reason: Randomly stuck in my head!

Highlight Of The Day: A really nice pub tea with my Dad and his girlfriend.

Inspiration Of The Day: Laughter is the key to a 'placid' life!

Photo Every Day #113

Today was one of those days where nothing amazing happened but it wasn't a bad day either. Just so-so. Tomorrow is payday and then Saturday is my day off!! Whoo! I'm not at either job so I'm very happy to get a break.

Song Of The Day: Radiohead - Creep
Reason: A song that needs to be played loud!

Highlight Of The Day: Taking Stark on a super long walk. He got tired and we had to carry him part of the way.

Inspiration Of The Day: Sleep!

Photo Every Day #112

Today seemed to be quite a long day but it also seemed to go fast! We took Stark on his first walk and he was so good! He was a bit confused and apprehensive at first but then he seemed to really enjoy it. He needs a harness and a stretchy lead as I don't want to let him off whilst he isn't trained but he trips us up with his running back and forth whilst on the rope lead.

Song Of The Day: Sheryl Crow - If It Makes You Happy
Reason: This came on the radio at work today so I had a good singalong whilst there were no customers in to listen!!

Highlight Of The Day: Stark's first walk!

Inspiration Of The Day: sorry for the dodgy link, but Barbara Karant's rooms are awesome! I love the beach/sea one!!

Photo Every Day #110

Today we went up to High Leigh garden center as I was told they have a good aquatic section. It does have a really good selection, especially the marine fish, there were even seahorses!! I can't wait to save up and get our own aquarium, I'd love a huge biorb!!

Song Of The Day: Fiona Apple - Criminal
Reason: It's been my ringtone for ages but I still love it!

Highlight Of The Day: Visiting The Range for some home shopping!

Inspiration Of The Day: Marine tanks, so beautiful and worth all the hard work!

Photo Every Day #109

Today was a bit of a long day. We were invited for tea at my Dad's which was nice though, even Stark got invited! He did disgrace himself by doing 3 wees and a poop on his carpet though! He loved playing with my Dad and was nice and tired when we got him home!

Song Of The Day: David Bowie - Sorrow
Reason: Been trying to listen to more of his stuff as I quite enjoy his music.

Highlight Of The Day: Having a nice home cooked meal.

Inspiration Of The Day: The furminator, it's a product we sell at work that removes loose pet hair from their coats, I so need one!!

Photo Every Day #106

I've just come to write my blog and have found that Stark has in fact chewed my charger up! This is ultra annoying as my battery lasts a whole 20mins before giving up. So, blogs will be done via phone for now, thank god for iPhones!

Song Of The Day: Lana Del Rey - Ride
Reason: Can't wait to play this full blast in the summer.

Highlight Of The Day: A nice bath. Peace and quiet!

Inspiration Of The Day: Seeing little Stark learn to climb up and down stairs and also how to sit in the short time we've had him. He's going to be amazing in puppy class!!

Photo Every Day #105

Today Stark went to the vets to get checked out. They said his diarrhea is normal as he's had such a big change which is for the best, but has still upset his little tummy. He's got some medicine to make him feel better and we're hoping to see the effects over the next couple of days. We've been playing 'puppy-copter' with him, which he loves! It basically involves him 'flying' ie being carried at arms length and making plane noises. He loves it! I also have half a day off tomorrow so I can have a lie in! Yay!

Helicopter Puppy

Song Of The Day: Radiohead - Creep
Reason: Amazing song! Love it! There were some right cracking songs on the radio today.

Highlight Of The Day: Hearing that Stark is a happy, healthy pup.

Inspiration Of The Day: Wooden ties by Wood Thumb. I wish I was a guy!

Photo Every Day #104

Today Stark's tummy doesn't seem any better really. He's having frequent diarrhea spells and seems tired and dehydrated. We've given him chicken and rice to see if that helps it and if not, he's off to the vet. Not a good start for the little mite! He's quite severely underweight, which is hidden by the fact he's fluffy, so I'm quite surprised they let us adopt him already. It's going to be hard to get him to gain weight if he keeps on with this upset tummy. Fingers crossed tomorrow is a better day.

Sleepy Boy:
Sleepy Boy

Song Of The Day: The Black Keys - Lonely Boy
Reason: Just stuck in my head for some reason! Not even particularly fond of this song or anything!

Highlight Of The Day: A nice day at work being able to see the nice sunshine.

Today Stark has been his usual playful then sleepy self. He's also been eating more today and had a bit of rice so hopefully that will settle his poor tummy.

Photo Every Day #102

Today Stark has had some visitors and went to my new place of work so that we could buy some puppy meat to try him on. He's not really eaten properly since we got him so I wanted to try some meat just to encourage him to eat his biscuits. He wolfed the meat down but was very protective over it. He growled and barked at Draco when he came over for a sniff, which I assume is behaviour he's adopted from living in kennels. He also seems to have proper stools rather than diarrhea which is great too as it means his little digestive system is calming down!

My Little Man:

Song Of The Day: Brigit Mendler - Ready Or Not
Reason: A happy, perky song.

Highlight Of The Day: A nice burger at Weatherspoons with a good friend.

Tech Hunt: Behind The Scenes

As you know, I have been working on a film called Tech Hunt with the director/producer/crew that created Sophie's Fortune. I thought Sophie's Fortune would turn out fantastic, but I believe that Tech Hunt will be pure brilliance! The production sees Genesis Flux Productions, Divided Productions and Atkinson Action Horses collaborating their talents to produce a cinematic short film with no budget!

Tech Hunt is a film set in a post-apocalyptic era where only a small amount of technology remains. The hunt is on to find it!

You can check out the website and facebook page here. Feel free to spread the word! It will be incredible!

Make sure you watch the teaser trailer here:

Pet Of The Week: Axolotl

I'm starting a new feature called Pet Of The Week to allow me to research and learn more about the animals we sell at my new place of work. First up, we have the axolotl.

The axolotl is known by it's official name; Ambystoma mexicanum or more commonly as the Mexican salamander or Mexican walking fish. It is closely related to the tiger salamander but it is fully aquatic and spends its entire life underwater. They originate from spefic freshwater lakes, including Lake Xochimilco which lies underneath Mexico City. Sadly, they are registered as critically endangered in regards to conservation status as their young are often eaten by non-native fish which have been introduced into their habitats.

Photo Every Day #97

Today we moved the gecko babies and their tanks downstairs into the front room. They were in the study but I felt they were a bit neglected in there, so they've joined the rest of the family in the front! Hopefully the cats won't pester them (or rather the locusts) as much now they'll be shut away from them during the day.

Two Tanks:

Song Of The Day: HIM - Close To The Flame
Reason: I love the acoustic version. I haven't listened to HIM for so long! I caught a video today and it brings back memories of being a teen!

Highlight Of The Day: Walking the lovely dogs at the dog's home!

Inspiration Of The Day: The series of portraits by Lalage Snow of soldiers before, during and after tours of duty. It's crazy to see the physical changes from being in such a stressful, difficult environment.

Photo Every Day #96

Today I did a bit of editing. I didn't feel like looking at the ones I took whilst at the Cotswolds so instead I chose to edit this photo from our third trip to the abandoned airfield. I wanted to do something to tie in in to my previous edit of the toilet lid on the floor. I'd love to shoot a horror film or fashion film here!

Photo Every Day #95

Over the last couple of days Asami has started drinking out of our night time glass of water! I have no idea why, she's never done it in all the time we've had her, but I suspect it saves her a trip downstairs to her bowl! Draco has also been having a go, but tends to get a bit too close to be sniffing it and get water up his nose! It's so cute!

Glass Of Water:

Song Of The Day: Blink 182 - What's My Age?
Reason: Childish and fun! Being in your 20s is rubbish when you have to act adult all the time!

Photo Every Day #93

Just a quick one as I'm exhausted and fed up. I really want to learn more about nutrition so I'm going to start out by reading up on a dog and cat food brand called Symply. I also want to make a decision on changing the kitten's food to something more nutritious so I want to be well informed.

Song Of The Day: Lana Del Rey - Off To The Races
Reason: I don't know if I want to be her or just be her best friend.

Highlight Of The Day: Holding the snake whilst I was at work this morning.

Inspiration Of The Day: Daily Cleaning Lists. Just wish the OH would be inspired by this too...

Photo Every Day #92

Today was day two of my new job. I'm still loving it! Today we got a fish delivery, so we had to go through a process to settle the fish into their new tanks in store. The fish were really striking, especially the 4 Chinese fighting fish that came in. There were also some teeny, tiny frogs and a black axolotl. I'm definitely be doing more research into fish as they're really interesting and they're something I don't really know a lot about. When I got home, Asami acted strange all evening. She constantly meowed for food, even though she'd had her tea already, which is really unlike her. I hope she's just having a funny day rather than feeling unwell.

Watching. Waiting:
Watching. Waiting.

Song Of The Day: Will Smith - Gettin' Jiggy Wit It.
Reason: Such an amazing song! Still so good now, it hasn't aged at all! I remember having it on tape.

Highlight Of The Day: Spending time around the fish.

Inspiration Of The Day: The axolotl. It has the ability to regenerate it's limbs!

Photo Every Day #91

Today was my first day at my new job! I've started working at a nearby pet store and I already love it! The people are really nice, which was one of the main reasons that I applied in the first place. I'm already a regular customer and I really like their friendly, helpful attitudes and they have such a lot of knowledge about the products they sell. I've been learning the basics today but I've already learnt so much about pet nutrition that I didn't know! After some more in depth training tomorrow I'll write a post about what I've learnt about pet foods. Today's PED is of the new feed chart the boy made for the cats, so that they're not getting two breakfasts!

Song Of The Day: Olly Murs - Troublemaker
Reason: Love him!

Highlight Of The Day: Nice day meeting new people.

Inspiration Of The Day: Jasmine Polsinelli, the 11year old who protests against the use of fur.

Film Review: Black Death (2010)

Black Death

Black Death is a film set in the 1340s around the time of the spread of the bubonic plague. The film follows a group of men, lead by Ulric (Sean Bean), trying to track down a village whom are suspected of pagan and occult activity. The men of God recruit a young monk, Osmund (Eddie Redmayne) to guide them to the village. Osmund takes this as a sign from God that he should lead the men so that he can meet up with his secret love, Averill (Kimberley Nixon). They encounter the witch, Langiva (Carice Van Houten) and village leader, Hob (Tim McInnerny) where they become a part of the strange goings on.

Photo Every Day #90

Today we went to the dog's home again to walk some of the dogs. We've had soft spots for a few of the dogs and were pleased to see that two of our favourites, Rosie, a border collie and Jodie, a staffie cross, have gone to a new homes! We walked a couple of different ones that previous times, including Skye, a husky type dog and Rebel, a bull mastiff. They're among the bigger dogs at the home, with most of them being staffies or staffie crosses, and I was a little apprehensive about them being very strong or boisterous on the lead. We took them in the compound at they were really good! They're such nice dogs, very friendly and playful. Skye is like a big wolf; he's so soft and furry! Rebel is so friendly and has a lovely 'smiling' face. They even played tug of war nicely with each other! Both of them can be adopted so I would recommend going to the dog's home and checking them out! We met a volunteer who gave us loads of advice on some of the other dogs too, so that was really nice. This evening we also watched the first episode of season 3 of Game Of Thrones! It was awesome as always! I may do mini episode reviews as we work our way through.

Skye & Rebel:
