Today I ordered some new plugs from RICAYP on Etsy. They're really nice illustrations so can't wait to get them and try them on! Thinking of wearing them as mis-matched pairs so that I can have the best of both. I love old Alice In Wonderland illustrations, I have a couple of books with the best drawings in them. I wish I had the natural ability to draw, but sadly I can only draw stick people and trees in winter.

Song Of The Day: Taylor Swift - We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together
Reason: Love this song, super catchy

Highlight Of The Day: New plugs which I haven't had in about a year!

Today was supposed to be my last day in work for two weeks, but I took some overtime, so tomorrow will be the last day instead! Aah can't wait for that first lie in. Good stuff. We have set up our new tv and I finally got to sit down and have a proper watch of it. It looks nice and gives the room a bit more of a modern feel. Although I still fail to understand why people would want to spend a bomb on a super massive, all singing, all dancing tv. There are better things to do than sit on your butt watching tv programmes all day.

Song Of The Day: Destiny's Child - Jumpin' Jumpin'
Reason: One of my favourite songs that reminds me of being a teen!

Highlight Of The Day: Fajitas for tea.

Today was my second to last day before my two weeks off! I went to Weatherspoons after work with two of the girls from work so we could have our pay day burgers! We're hoping to make it a regular pay day event as it's nice to be social outside of work. I also bought a new top which I wore tonight. £12 from the Izabel range stocked by Fuse in our store. It's nice and comfy and will go with a lot of my stuf. I also managed to convince the boy that we should go to the Horse Of The Year Show next Thursday! So I'm super excited and trying to decide what cameras and films to take!

Song Of The Day: Beyonce - Countdown
Reason: Love this song, love the chorus!

Highlight Of The Day: Booking HOYS tickets!

Today I have been wearing my Jasper Conran shirt that I've had for ages. It reminds me of the 80s as it has huge loose sleeves. It hangs quite nicely, but it is a little long in the body as I'm all legs and no torso! I wore it with a simple Zara black vest top and a Zara skirt. I would have worn my creepers with it but I couldn't find them so settled for my usual (muddy) boots. I love wearing blouses and shirts as I love the smart, preppy look. I also wore my hair out in a bun today. I've been having a bit of a play about with hair styles recently as I'm so bored of having super long hair and not making the most of it. I think it looked ok, but I'm still getting used to how I look with my hair up.

Jasper:

Song Of The Day: Azealia Banks - Liquorice
Reason: She has the most beautiful hair in this video!

Highlight Of The Day: A nice hot chocolate with a friend.

Today was the day before my day off tomorrow. Surprisingly it went quite fast and I cannot wait for a lie in! Plus it means only 2 more shifts before 2 weeks off! Yay! I'm definately in need of a break so it will be nice to be able to properly relax. I'll also be getting stuck into the box set a friend got me for my birthday. Several documentaries on some of the most infamous serial killers. My personal favourite is Ed Gein. He was the inspiration for the Hitchcock film 'Psycho', also one of my favourites. He suffered mental issues which were exacerbated by the death of his beloved mother, Although he only killed two people, he is most infamous for exhuming corpses, many shortly after burial, and turning them into household decorative items. I feel that if I were to be a serial killer, I'd defiantely want to go all out and be seen as a freak as well. I do feel a little sorry for Gein, as he clearly a very simple minded man who led an isolated, sad life and unfortunatley turned to activities which are not socially acceptable to the average sane person. Maybe if he'd have been born much later today's medical and mental health services would have been able to help him before his life took a turn for the worse. I definately don't see Ed Gein as a psychotic, self obsessed narcisist as many killers appear to be, or at the very least are portrayed that way by the media which is most likely the reason I pity him. I think he was just a simple, mentally ill man who unfortunately fell too deep into his own fantasy world which devastatingly ended with the deaths of two innocent women.

Song Of The Day: Katy Perry - Hot & Cold
Reason: One of my fave Katy songs, really want to get her Sims 3 add on pack!

Highlight Of The Day: Getting my kitchen nice and clean. Bathroom tomorrow!

Photo Every Day #269

Today has been one of those days when I have been well and truely fed up. I'm guessing that yet another terrible night's sleep is mostly to blame. I can't remember the last time I work up feeling refreshed or didn't wake up several times during the night. I've been trying to eat more fruit and veg to give me more energy but even that doesn't seem to be helping. Ah well, buying the shoes I've wanted for ages from work yesterday is helping! I also read a really interesting article about living with a junkie, so thought I'd share! Happy reading!

I Put My New Shoes On:

Song Of The Day: Alexisonfire - Rough Hands
Reason: One of my favourite songs by them, went to see them years ago in Leeds and they were so good!

Highlight Of The Day: Getting an early(ish) night.

Today we had friends over, it was nice to just be hanging round the flat doing nothing in particular. I also got Rollercoaster Tycoon 3! It's awesome, I forgot how much I used to love it. Sadly, I didn't save my game and my computer crashed. Boo!

Photo Every Day #267

Today we took my friend from work and her little daughter to the Walled Garden, along with the boy's sister and her boyfriend.  It was a really nice day, firstly having a cake and coffee then walking round taking photos. After we'd finished my friend's little girl came to our house with us to visit the rats and the geckos. She loved all of them, but in particular 'Caramel' the gecko. I thought I'd say her name was Caramel rather than Carcass as I didn't fancy explaining to a child what a carcass actually was! Afer she'd gone home, I helped the boy's sister and her boyfriend to do their CVs and we had KFC for tea! Overall it was a really nice day but very tiring!

Invasion Of The Ducks:

Song Of The Day: No Doubt - Sunday Morning
Reason: It's Sunday and this is a Sunday song!

Highlight Of The Day: A nice day with friends and family.

Today I was in work, which I haven't been on a Saturday for a while. Luckily, it wasn't too busy or too dead so time went by nicely. We spent the evening looking after Pixie. She was well bahaved as usual and spent a good part of the nice lying in her bed, legs in the air, tongue sticking out and snoring loudly!

Sleepy Baby:

Song Of The Day: David Guetta Featuring Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj- Where Them Girls At

This evening we have been trying to make the most of it after recieving some bad news. We had KFC for tea with our friend, then the 3 of us played Scene It, which is a movie quiz game for the Xbox. I won as I was the first to 50,000 points in our super long game! It's a really good game, plenty of puzzles and different styles of asking the questions that makes it a lot more entertaining than Buzz or other games I've tried along similar lines. It was also a bargain as we got it from a market stall for £6 and it's pretty much brand new!

Song Of The Day: Enter Shikari - Sorry You're Not A Winner
Reason: What I could have said to my loser opponents! haha.

Highlight Of The Day: A nice evening.

Today's PED is of my new love: Poptarts! They're so yummy I could eat a million in one go (or at least have a damn good go). I can't believe I only discovered them this week! How have I lived without their warm pastry goodness for so long?!

Poptarts!:

Song Of The Day: Nicki Minaj - Moment For Life
Reason: My fave Nicki song!

Highlight Of The Day: Sorting out a really decent present (I hope) for someone at work who's leaving.

Photo Every Day #263

Today was my second week at college. We looked at the visual elements that make up a photograph such as colour, tone, lines, form, contrast/juxtaposition, shape, space and texture. We also looked at health and safety whilst shooting as we need to include risk assessments in our portfolios. Below is a photo I took on campus of one of the benches. I wanted to create a going off into the distance feel and felt the bold colours would make it stand out. If I were to take this picture again I would like to crop more of the background out and have the planks filling the frame a lot more.

Song Of The Day: Ke$ha - Blah Blah Blah
Reason: I really like her as I think her songs are fun party tracks

Highlight Of The Day: Trying my first poptart and falling in love with them! Yummy!

Today Jacques has mostly just been in bed and asleep. He came down to have a bit of a potter and some water so that's a good sign. He's also has his medicine on some cheese and some tea and a drink whilst in his bed. I assume he'll be resting for at least the next week or so before he starts spending any time not in the hammock, but he does seem to just be a quiet version of himself today so at least he isn't in shock anymore.

Best Friends:

Rats - 17th September 2012

Song Of The Day: Pinhead Gunpowder - Landlords
Reason: Love this song, awesome band and I wish they'd release more albums soon!

Highlight Of The Day: A really nice, none-greasy fish and chips from the nearby chippy.

Photo Every Day #261

Today Jacques went back to the vets for his x-rays. He was really good when I dropped him off and looked glad to be home when he was back in his cage with his brothers. He's still limping but it's not broken. He's ruptured the ligaments at the side of his knee which is a little unusual, so his knee is quite unstable. He'll basically have to learn how to walk with it like this as there's no way to fix it as his leg is so small. He may also get arthritis later in life too. He's got some medicine to take, which went down nicely on a chunk of pear, so hopefully that'll take his swelling down and relieve any pain. Klaus and Quigley have been looking after him.

The Injured & His Carers:

Rats - 17th September 2012

Song Of The Day: Swedish House Mafia vs Knife Party - Antidote
Reason: Amazing song that never gets old

Photo Every Day #260

Well today has been awesome, but this evening terrible. This morning we met up with the boy's friend from work and went with her to see her horses. They're gorgeous and so well looked after! We had a short ride, but sadly within 1 minute of getting into the school the horse I was on, Seeky, decided to spook at something and completely caught me off guard so off I went! It wasn't a bad fall and I think poor Seeky was more freaked out that I'd come off than I was! My bum/bottom of my spine is majorly aching though, dreading what it will be like in the morning! No serious harm done though and we had a decent 'getting to know each other' ride. After we'd finished at the horses, we went for some nice pub food. It was a nice meal and was very filling! We also got caught in torrential rain and had to run back to the car. It was nice to meet someone the boy gets on with so well and she was a very nice girl, so hopefully we can go along again.

However, after we got home from visiting my parents we decided to clean the rats out as usual. We had them on the sofa whilst we washed their platforms and toys etc and out of nowhere Jacques decided to try and jump the 3 feet back into his cage. However, he missed, hit the side of the cage and fell a good 2 feet to the floor. He was shocked and just lay under the bookcase for ages, until we managed to get him back into his cage. We noticed him limping and decided to take him to the vet as it's not like Jacques to be so quiet and still. The vet said it looks like he's either damaged his ligaments or fractured his knee. He's had some painkillers and he's home for the night to see if the swelling goes down, but he has to go back in the morning for x-rays and then we'll see what damage has been done. Poor Jacques.

Trip To The Vets:

Song Of The Day: KMFDM - Hau Ruck

Highlight Of The Day: A nice day with horses and hopefully what will turn out to be a new friend!

Today it was the cast and crew premier of Boom In Shot! The film is super awesome and funny!! I'm really glad it's turned out so well and I hope it gets the recognition it deserves. I'm also loving the fact that I have a cameo!! Haha, it's worth seeing it for that reason alone. You can watch the trailer in the meantime, but hopefully it'll be in some festivals very soon! I also bought this little beauty today. It's a retro style petrol pump. The front opens and there are little shelves inside. It's super cute and goes with my retro soda cap clock and diner pay phone.

Song Of The Day: Halocene - Boom In Shot Theme Song

Song Of The Day: Azealia Banks - 212
Reason: Love this girl, so pretty too

Highlight Of The Day: End of the working week for me!

Photo Every Day #257

Today I decided to try and take a photo based on symmetry. Below is my attempt! The line of symmetry is straight through the middle of the photo. It's the top of our radiator (which I've noticed looks a bit grubby), which I've tried to make look as though it's vanishing into the distance. I like how one side of the radiator has come up lighter and the other one dark, it gives more contrast and makes  the symmetry rows stand out more.

Song Of The Day: Katy Rose - Because I Can
Reason: Really good artist, keep trying to find her cd to buy but can't seem to!

Highlight Of The Day: Buying a really nice present for a friend from work who's leaving.

Today was the first night of college. It was just one of those basic intro days but my mind is already whirring and I've got a list of potential themes for my portfolios already. I'm going to try to take my next few PEDs in accordance to several 'rules' of photography that we briefly ran through today. So be prepared for photos showing things that I'm learning!

Oh Deer:

Song Of The Day: Bikini Kill - Rebel Girl
Reason: Just had this stuck in my head all day

Highlight Of The Day: First day at college!

Photo Every Day #255

Tomorrow I am back to college to start my photography course! I'm really looking forward to it and can't wait to get stuck in. I'm also interested to see who else is on the course as it'll be nice if there are some like minded people there. I'll update tomorrow with how it went. Tonight I have been out with the girls from work as two of them are leaving. We just went to weatherspoons but it really is nice to spent time chatting with them when we know we won't be told off for trying to talk in the fitting room!

This is the chest that we bought from the carboot yesterday. It's a good size, nearly as high as the bed and plenty deep enough for all my camera gear that I intend to keep in it. It's nice and rusty and looks as though it was forgotten about in an abandoned building for years. It's like my very own piece of abandonment right in my house and it's beautiful.

Lock:

Song Of The Day: Nine Inch Nails - Hurt
Reason: If I could listen to songs in an abandoned place, this would be one of the first to be played.

Highlight Of The Day: Playing with my ratties

Today we went to a huge carboot sale at Chelford. I've not been to a carboot sale for years and even then I've only been to an odd one. We did get a couple of bargains, we picked up a huge old chest for £18, a book for £1.50, 3 little Wade ornaments for £5 and best of all a zoo tycoon expansion pack for a mere £1! I love Zoo Tycoon and similar games; rollercoaster tycoon, theme park world, sim city etc. So it's nice to be able to relive my childhood memories.

Today I went shopping in Manchester with my Mum. I had no intention of buying anything but came back with two matching deer pictures, a green dress, a pink jacket and a cupcake! I'll upload some photos tomorrow! This evening I had my friends round and we had takeaway and watched X Factor. I think the X Factor is really running out of steam with this latest series. The format is so predictable that it's just boring to see so many talented people that they just all seem average. There are barely any auditions shown anymore, definitely no real crazy people auditioning like they used to have, no real advice given to hopefuls, no family interviews, even the sob stories are appearing as though they've been sent via the bland machine. I personally preferred the original format with more intimate auditions and with judges who know more about the industry as oppose to just being performers. However, it now seems to have turned into a huge bland fest where it's all about dramatics with no real climax. It's a shame as I did used to love watching the audition segments of the show. Maybe one day they'll bring back the old style!

Emerald Takeaway:

Song Of The Day: Olly Murs - Heart Skips A Beat
Reason: Love this song and he's a bit of a guilty pleasure as his style isn't my usual cup of tea!

Highlight Of The Day: A nice day with family and friends.

Photo Every Day #251

Over the last couple of days I've been sorting out our second bedroom. I rearranged the furniture and it looks a lot better and a lot lighter. I've been wondering what to do with all my cameras, films, accessories, developed negatives and prints for ages, but so far I have compiled them onto our new tv bench since we haven't bought a new tv yet. I call it my Lomo Mountain! I also won some more piggy points on the Lomography website! Woo! This is my lomo home if you're wondering.

Lomo Mountain:

Song Of The Day: Fiona Apple - Red
Reason: Haven't listened to her in far too long, still one of my ultimate idols.

Highlight Of The Day: It's Friday! So that means the weekend is tomorrow!!

Today I have been uping my search for jobs, training and events that might be of use to me. I've found a few things that may be of interest and I'm hoping to go to BVE North with my friend in November to pimp ourselves out to people in the industry! Klaus helped me look too.

I Iz Surfing The Interwebz:
Rats - 6th September 2012

Song Of The Day: Panic! At The Disco - Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off
Reason: Firstly, love the song title! Not that I necessarily agree however. But even though its a bit of a teenage anthem, I still like it. I remember taking one of my sisters friends to see them at the Academy in Manchester ages ago, but sadly don't remember if they were good or not.

Highlight Of The Day: Managing to tidy up and sort out most of the spare room

Photo Every Day #249

Today I have been working on my short film script. I don't want to say much about it yet really as it's going quite well. It's going to be a short film and at the moment I'm thinking of having no spoken dialogue a la Resume. There are two characters so it's quite a focused piece which I'm hoping will be quite intense.

Script Writing:

Today we went for tea at The Black Swan, where the boy now works. The food was really tasty and the decor was amazing. Very country with a homely feel. I would definately recommend going if you're ever in the Lower Withington area.

Fish n' Chips:

Highlight Of The Day: Getting in bed.

Another lame quick post cos I'm dying for sleep! Today my parents came back so no more full time looking after of Pixie until next year for me. I did take her to the Walled Garden for her usual Sunday cake to finish our week together off nicely. I also wen to Ikea with my Dad to get our new tv stand, sadly the tv that I was given was a bit rubbish, a lot worse than our current tv so the new stand is currently waiting in the bedroom until we get a new tv set. I begrudge having to pay a lot just for a tv as there's better things that I want to spend money on first! My Dad had also been making some cakes which were very nice.

Have Your Cake And Eat It:

Song Of The Day: Bowling For Soup - Punk Rock 101

Just a quick one to finish off a busy week. My parents are back tomorrow so I can finally move back home with my ratties and geckos! I'm also getting a new tv tomorrow so I need to go and pick out a tv bench from Ikea. No rest for the wicked! Today's PED is one from my Rent A Lubitel workshop.

Highlight Of The Day: Watching tv with friends
